2013 Baseball Season

The curtain has dropped and the season is over. Our record was 5-17. We did match our win column from last year, but we need to finish games and find ways to win in the future. Senior Hunter Vanderburg received most outstanding and also was on the all-region selection. Vanderburg also received the Job award for perseverance. Kyle Brassell and Dalton Markle also received the Trojan Award. Overall, we were a young ball club, but I believe that it will help us in the near future. This season was frustrating for most, but I want the players to look back and realize and learn to have a Will to Win and refuse to lose. I want the players to realize that to be the best and the best team you have to put in the time and effort every day. This game is meant to be played hard and I expect that our of the Trojan Baseball program. The seniors have been recognized, honored and will be greatly missed. The underclassmen are beginning to consider their prospects for their baseball future. Considering all that Trojan baseball represents , all that it strives to do, regardless of the record or the scoreboard, from the coach‘s comments and the opinion of this writer, this team has successfully represented well the Lord Jesus Christ, their families, SBEC baseball and themselves. I personally still get more pleasure out of watching our team bow their knees at the end of the game at the mound with the opposing team than I do all of the other highlights. To me, that is distinctively and uniquely Trojan baseball.

For certain this group of Trojan seniors has been truly a class act and has by their character, their leadership and their role model handed those that follow a baton worthy of carrying. Great Job Trojan Seniors. Great Job Trojans, Great Job Loyal Fans and Great Job Coaches who invested tirelessly and selflessly into the lives of these young men not just so that they will be better ball players but more importantly so that they will be better Christ like men. Thanks to Coach Jerry Daniel, Coach "Corky" Casto, Coach Brent Frayser and Coach Eric Hunt for who you are and all that you do.

A special thanks also for all the many behind the scene that helped make this 2013 season a success. Especially, statistician and League Line-up writer, Howard Locke. Thanks for all the work on the site and the wonderful write-ups after the game as well as keep all the stats current. God has truly blessed me with Howard!! A special thanks to Tim Matheson, the Trojan announcer, to Bo McNeer and Donny Hopkins who helped on the scorebooks, Rhonda Fowler and the Senior Moms for planning parties, and to the Band Boosters who continue to produce the best hamburgers around and many, many others.
