Volunteer Matters

Teacher Appreciation Week Update ...

A wonderful card of gratitude was received by the PTSF from the teachers thanking the PTSF committees and volunteers for all of the many enhancements and encouragement provided this year.   They said in the card that the PTSF has truly been a blessing to them this year!

A Note from your PTSF President…

On behalf of the PTSF committees I say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU  again for your support of our program this year!  We have been able to accomplish many terrific things this year and ALL were made possible by PTSF memberships, use of the SBEC grocery card program and the generous gifts of time and service from our SBEC parents / grandparents!  YOU are truly making a difference!

PTSF Leadership – Would You be the One?

As we start to plan for the 2008-2009 school year, the PTSF could use a few more people willing to take committee positions and leadership roles.

Some positions only require a couple hours a month while others require more time.  Please consider joining the fun and rewarding PTSF service team!  Take a look at some of the key positions and needs for next year and let us know if you are willing to help.

There is a tentative luncheon and planning meeting on Monday June 9th at 11:30am.  Please let us know if you can join us!  Kimberly@kimberlymedlock.com or BMFaust@gmail.com

Please be sure to register your e-mail address on the www.sbectrojans.com/ptsf website if you want to stay informed over the summer with any PTSF news!

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.

What makes a good school a great school?  Good kids? Great kids?  Involved parents!

Family Matters

“Test Drive Cars ... Not People” event update ....

THANK YOU for your support of the Test Drive Cars Not People event on 5/17.   We had over 100 SBEC students attend!  It was a fantastic event that will hopefully have a life changing, positive effect on all the Mid South youth that attended.

Money Matters

Kroger Card Program

There have been some questions about the new Kroger card $ bonus program offered through the stores.  I am told that their program does not allow you to use your SBEC issued card for the bonus money.   If you decide to use their temporary program please know that you have to get a new card through the store and there is no way for SBEC to get credit for what is loaded on a card issued directly from the store.    Also, if you do decide to use the temporary Kroger bonus $ promotion please make it a point to go back to your SBEC issued Kroger card after the promotional dates.  Using the SBEC issued card is the only way for our school to earn the 5% earnings on every pre-loaded amount.   The grocery card program has been able to provide the new Trojan mascot, microwaves for the teacher lounges, the money for the faculty appreciation luncheons, new sofa for the elementary work room, Christmas gift certificates for the faculty and soooo much more.   Your continued support and use of the SBEC grocery cards for Kroger and Schnuck’s is greatly appreciated!  Our Kroger card earnings for 3/23-4/19 were $1,217.35.  If you need a new Kroger or Schnuck’s please see Elizabeth Jenkins in the HS office.

SBEC Kroger cards make great graduation gifts!   All college bound grads will need gas and food and it’s a great way to help them budget!

Other Matters

Business Listings for next year’s SBEC Student Directory

We will again feature the special SBEC family “yellow pages”.  This is a special business card advertisement section of the directory that allows fellow SBEC families to know whom to call when services are needed.  HUNDREDS of these directories will be distributed.  The cost to be included in the directory is only $25.  You can send in your business card and check made out to SBEC PTSF in a labeled envelope to Elizabeth Jenkins in the HS office. Deadline is 5/31/08.

Used Uniform Donations

If you would like to donate your good condition school uniform pieces to the PTSF for reselling, then please put the items in a bag labeled as a donation and drop off in the lost & found bin in the front lobby.
