PAA Frequently Asked Questions & Info

For those of you who are not familiar with this league, let me try to answer some questions that may come up:

There is a $50.00 PAA fee to play in this league.

All boys and girls who make the team must have a physical on file with me.

This is a competitive league, not an intramural league. Playing time is determined by skill.

In an intramural league, some of the goals are to develop skills, have fun, and everyone plays an equal amount of time. In a competitive league, some of the goals are to develop skills, to win, and to prepare for the next level.

There are usually 1-3 games a week. Games will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. If we are able to play at home, those games are usually on Saturdays. I do not schedule the games; they are scheduled through the PAA.

There will be four teams, one team for each age group, with only 10 players to a team, so it is very important to try to be at all the tryout dates. The teams will be:

5th grade boys and 5th grade girls
6th grade boys and 6th grade girls

Maps to our practice gyms will be placed in the lobby next to the elementary sports bulletin board. Maps to games will be available on our SBEC website.

Parents are responsible for getting their child to and from practice, as well as to and from games.

Please keep in mind that we are guest at these gyms and your children are representing SBEC.

No food or drinks are allowed on the gym floor, and all trash is to be picked up by us before we leave. We cannot afford to lose the use of any of these gyms. It is vital to our program that we remain welcome guests in these gyms.

Special requests:

At Trinity Baptist Church there are no carbonated drinks (cokes) allowed.

At Longview Baptist Church all drinks must be kept in the lobby outside the gym. No one is to be upstairs without supervision.

Please be aware that tryouts are very stressful times for not only your child, but for the coaches as well. It is a very sobering and gut wrenching thing to be in charge of breaking a child’s heart and not being able to put that child on a team. I try to talk to the children before and after tryouts to help them through this disappointment.
  • It can be a time of great sorrow, but if we are wise, we will see to it that it is a time to help build the character of our children.
  • It is an opportunity for us to help our children become stronger through trials and tribulations.
  • It is an opportunity to teach them that God is in control of our lives and that He turns all pain into joy. We may not understand His plan, or see the big picture, but He knows what’s best for our children, and they are in His Loving Hands.
