University of Memphis Emerging Leaders Scholarship application is now available online. Deadline is January 1, 2009. (Other Ole Miss Alumni Association offers a variety of scholarships, most of which require the applicant’s parent or grandparent to be a member of the Ole Miss Alumni Association. There is a hard and fast deadline of March 1, 2009 for an application to be in the Alumni office. Details about the AXA Foundation’s AXA Achievement Scholarship program are available online. Deadline is December 15, 2008. Wal-Mart /
Sam’s Club Foundation scholarship is now available online. Deadline
is January 31, 2009. National Co-op Scholarship Program offers scholarships to pursue opportunities in college-level cooperative education. To learn more about the program you may visit the National Commission for Cooperative Education online. Deadline is February 15, 2009. Burger Kink Scholars Program offers $1000 scholarships to first year college students and you may find information and eligibility criteria at their website; Burger King Scholars Program. Deadline is February 2, 2009. McKelvey Entrepreneurial Scholarships are awarded to
high school students who operate their own business and meet certain other
criteria. Visit them on the Web for
complete details about this $40,000 scholarship opportunity. Deadline
is January 25, 2009. Champions for Children
is the largest privately funded scholarship in Mississippi. Their scholarship is unique in that it only
requires time volunteering as a mentor to younger children. To learn more, visit their website. Deadline
is April 1, 2009. Memphis Area Teachers’ Credit Union offers seniors who plan to major in teacher education, the opportunity to apply for one of six scholarships worth up to $10,000. Students or their parent(s) must be a member of the MATCU. Deadline is January 31, 2009. COLLEGE PLANNING
The FAFSA will be available online starting January 1, 2009. You will need your 2008 tax information for completion of the FAFSA, not that it has to be filed, but the information will be required. Also, if you are completing the FAFSA online, you will need a PIN to use as your electronic signature. The student applying and one parent will both need a PIN. That may be secured now at http://www.pin.ed.gov. Want to get a little better score on the ACT or SAT to increase your chances for acceptance? Know your potential college’s deadlines for early action and early decision applications, as well as for entrance test scores! Want to meet with a college recruiter here at SBEC? program, but it is definitely worth investigating. Register for the ACT Register for the SAT ACT preparation resources from ACT. FREE ACT/SAT preparation online sponsored by PNC
Bank. All you need to register and use
this online preparation tools is an e-mail address. SAT
preparation resources from the CollegeBoard.
